
Richard S Kaiser, MD
Dr. Richard Kaiser, MD is a Philadelphia native, a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and a member of the Wills Eye Hospital medical staff and Retina Service since 2001. Rick Kaiser received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical doctor degree from New York University School of Medicine, where he was awarded recognition for his ophthalmic research. He completed his medical internship at Presbyterian Hospital/University of Pennsylvania where he was honored as Intern of the Year. Dr. Kaiser performed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Pennsylvania and Scheie Eye Institute where he was appointed Chief Resident. He then completed his two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, where he was awarded the Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship Award and the Ronald G. Michels Retinal Fellowship Award. Currently, Dr. Kaiser is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, an Associate Surgeon at Wills Eye Hospital and is the Co-Director of the Wills Retina Fellowship Program. Research interests include macular surgery, macular diseases including AMD and the treatment and prevention of PVR.
Rick is the Principle Investigator and Co-Investigator for numerous clinical trials.
Rick enjoys traveling with his family, playing squash and golf, coaching little league and very much enjoys the camaraderie and collegiality that comes with being a Retina Specialist.
