Eric D Nudleman, MD, PhD
I am now finishing my fourth year as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Shiley Eye Institute of UC, San Diego. I split my time between a clinical practice of adult and pediatric retinal diseases, and a basic science lab focused on retinal vascular diseases. UCSD and Rady Children’s Hospital have been wonderful places to build a practice. I enjoy working with residents and fellows, and participating in clinical trials and research projects.
I am also privileged to work with a tremendous team of scientists. My laboratory work is aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms that are responsible for blood-retinal barrier dysfunction and neovascularization in response to retinal ischemia.
In between patients and experiments in the lab, I am usually either surfing or enjoying time with my wife and 3 kids.
